on Computer
On your computer visiting YouTube website, you can use browser extensions like Unhook or DFTube to hide the Shorts.
For example in Unhook:

Link to the extension office page:
If you are using Firefox.
If you are using Chrome.
on Mobile Devices
Official YouTube App
The official iOS YouTube app does not allow you to disable Shorts in the Settings as of 30 Nov 2024. I’m yet to know if Android version of YouTube app allows you to do so.
You can try the following as I’ve read online, I couldn’t find such option in iOS:
Open the YouTube app on your smartphone.
Tap your Profile Picture (top right or bottom right corner).
Select Settings.
Navigate to the General section.
Look for the toggle labeled Shorts and switch it off.
ZenTube – third-party iOS app
If minimizing distractions is what you are after, you can try the ZenTube app.
You can filter out the Shorts by tapping the to show only the Videos both in the Settings and your Feeds page.*

*Shorts filtering is only available to subscribed users. However, the app should be good enough for making it distraction-free in general.
